Maulana Obaidullah Sindhi

Buta Singh (Obaidullah Sindhi) was born in the year 1872 in a Sikh Family, later he emraced Islam and was renowned by Ubaidullah Sindhi.
He was a political leader, he played a vital role in the struggle of independence of India and he was one of the vigorous leaders of Indian Freedom Struggle.

He did his schooling in Darul Uloom Deoband, he achieved Islamic Knowledge by Shaikhul Hind Maulana Mahmood Hasan and by many other Islamic Scholars, he was the right hand of Shaikhul Hind.

He was very sharp minded person. He was said to be the founder of Silk letter conspiracy by British reporters and British reporters also mentioned that he involved Shaikhul Hind in his conspiracy. He went to Kabul by the command of his teacher Maulana Mahmood Hasan to seek help for the freedom of India.

All practical steps of silk letter conspiracy were proceeded by him. He was the most active and prominent leader of Indian freedom movements. He also visited Afghanistan, Turkey, Arab and numerous places to find the ways to free India from British Rule.

He met with those people who were struggling for India’s Independence inspite of being outside from India and guided them.

After the failure of Silk Letter Movement he was in custody for few days in Kabul. Later he was released then he stayed in Arab for few days.
He came to India in 1939. By the help of Congress, all restrictions on him were removed.

He stayed in Lahore, where he used to teach Philosphy of Shah Wali Ullah to Islamic Scholars.

During 1940, he organized Bait ul Hikmah in Jamia Millia Islamia university to teach Philosophy of Shah Wali Ullah.
