Malakpet is the part of Hyderabad’s Old City and is further divided into two parts Old Malakpet and new Malakpet.

Malakpet was named after Malik Yaqoob, a servant of Abdullah Qutb Shah
–The Seventh Sultan of Qutb Shahi dynasty.

Abdullah Qutb Shah was the Golconda king.
Malik Yaqoob resided in that area and he jad a market there. So it was named Malakpet

Asaf Jah VI Mir Mahboob Ali Khan Siddiqi Bayafandi shifted Hyderabad Race course from Moula Ali to Malakpet as he wanted Race Course to be closer to his Palace
