Fasting in Ramazan is Mandatory

Fasting in Ramazan is mandatory for every Muslim. As Allah Subhanahu Ta’ala says in Surah Al Baqara Ayah 235

The month of Ramadan is the one in which the Qur’an was revealed as guidance for mankind and as clear signs that show the right way and distinguish between right and wrong. So those of you who witness the month must fast in it.

The Prophet Muhammad SAW said:

Islam is based on five things:

1. The testimony that there is no god but God and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger,
2. the observance of the prayer,
3. the payment of zakat,
4. the Pilgrimage, and
5. the fast during Ramadan.”

“Take Sahur, for in Sahur there is a blessing.” (Sunan Nasai)

The Prophet Muhammad SAW said:

“The people will remain on the right path as long as they hasten the breaking of the fast.”(Bukhari: 1957)
