Do Muslims Worship Hajr e Aswad?

We Muslims while performing Hajj or Umrah Kiss The Hajre Aswad – the Black Stone in Khaane Kaabah. Some of our non-Muslim Brothers think that As they worship other than Allah the Almighty We Muslims also Worship Hajr e Aswad.

For your information, I will make it clear that Muslims only Worship Allah Subhanahu Ta’ala because The Kalima we read لا اله الا الله محمد رسول الله It means “There is no God but Allah and Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم is His Messenger.”

Now when we testify that Allah is the Only God then How can we Worship other than Him that too a Stone.

Why Do Muslims Kiss Hajr e Aswad?

Now I will come to the point and clarify the misconception regarding Kissing the Hajre Aswad.

Look, We Muslims follow the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم, because Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم Kissed the Black Stone We Muslims also kiss it while performing Haj or Umrah.

Now, if anyone says that Kissing means you are worshipping the Black Stone, then I will say that Kissing doesn’t mean worshipping.

Look A man kisses his wife and Children, then does it mean He is Worshipping them?

No, no one say it that He is Worshipping them. You will say that HE loves his family that’s why he is kissing them.

This is true in our case also, we love Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم, he kissed Hajre Aswad that’s why we are kissing it.

The matter is closed now, and it is clear that We Muslims Kiss the Hajre Aswad due to love not because we worship it Maaz Allah.

Proof From Sahaba That We Donot Worship Hajre Aswad

At last, I will provide a Solid proof from the Sahaba (Sahaba are the students of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم).

Abis bin Rabi’ah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:

I saw ‘Umar bin Al-Khattab (May Allah be pleased with him) kissing the Black Stone (Al-Hajar Al-Aswad) and saying:

“I know that you are just a stone and that you can neither do any harm nor give benefit. Had I not seen Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) kissing you, I would not have kissed you”.

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Now it is crystal and clear that We are Kissing Hajr e Aswad because Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم kissed it.
